1982 An Artist’s Living Space

Japanese-American Cultural and Community Center, Los Angeles

Rubin was selected as curator for this featured exhibition at the second annual Los Angeles Visual Arts festival in downtown Los Angeles. Applicants for the curatorship were invited to propose an exhibition based on the concept of “a roomful of art.” Rubin’s idea was to create an exhibition that would simulate an artist’s loft, using actual functional art or depictions of things one would find there.  At the time, many artists were living and working in downtown lofts.
