In fall 2000, Rubin traveled to Paris as a guest of the French Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York. Once there, he visited fifteen studios and selected three new media artists for this exhibition. Two of them, Blocher and Laurette, visited New Orleans several months in advance of the exhibition to create new projects.
