2006 The Culture of Queer: A Tribute to J.B. Harter
Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation, New York
Originally shown in 2005 at the Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans and on view during the time of Hurricane Katrina, this exhibition traveled to New York City the following year. Rubin had been approached by the John Burton Harter Foundation about curating an exhibition of homoerotic art by the recently decreased Harter, along with selections from the collection of the Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation (later renamed the Leslie/Lohman Museum of Art). Feeling the project needed a more cutting-edge spin, he also included works by several LGBTQIA+ Louisiana artists.
