The 2010 edition of FotoSeptiembreUSA focused on Mexican photography, so Rubin did some online research and discovered the work of Gerárdo and Fernándo Montiel Klint. The artists both work in the arena of staged photography, where they use performers to create narrative scenarios that are often open-ended in meaning.
