2010 Psychedelic: Optical and Visionary Art since the 1960s
San Antonio Museum of Art
When Rubin arrived for his new job at SAMA in 2006, he was wowed by a Frank Stella painting from the Psychedelic Era that used day-glo paints. It also reminded him of more recent art with a psychedelic sensibility. Accordingly, he organized this exhibition and published a more comprehensive book with essays by Rubin, Robert C. Morgan, and Daniel Pinchbeck. The book was recommended by the New York Times on Black Friday. The exhibition traveled to two other venues.
